Energy Healing
For thousands of years throughout the different cultures around the world people have been healing themselves and others with their hands using energy. Energy healing is one of the oldest known processes that we find under different names and methods but whose basic source remains the same. Throughout time, different practices were developed like Reiki, Bio-Energy, Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga and others by using this life force energy to balance the body at all levels. We all have this abilities and power to heal ourselves through the energy.
- In China the healing source is referred to chi and was speculated to be associated with the blood and how it circulates throughout the body. In the book of changes, “I Ching”, 3 types of life energies were identified; cosmic, earth and human.
- In India, energy is referred to as prana and is associated with the breath.
- Other cultures refer to energy as the source, life force, or astro light.
- In Greece, Pythagoras; the greek philosopher and mathematician referred to the source as the luminous body of healing, while others believed that the source of healing was cosmic energy, the force that sustains life in the universe.
The origin of Reiki
Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922 in Japan. It was after an intensive prayer and meditation retreat in a Buddhist temple to purify and open his Coronal chakra that Mikao Usui received a flood of spiritual Light. This light was the universal energy of Reiki that would heal.
He first started practicing Reiki on himself and his family before opening a Healing Center: the “Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai” in Tokyo. His wish was that everyone has access to this form of healing. Following his death in 1926, it was his closed student, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi who opened a clinic and continued his teaching in Japan.
And it is by Hawaya Takata born in Hawai that Reiki was introduced in the West. She decided to become a Master following a complete recovery from a serious illness after Reiki sessions given by Dr. Hayashi. Thanks to her, as the knowledge of the reiki was spread all over the world. After her death in 1980, Phyllis Lei Furumoto, succeeded her grand mother and founded the Reiki Alliance. And since then, there are several places where it is possible to receive Reiki treatments or learn the training.
The origin of Bio-Energy
In 1970 a new form of Bio-Energy healing emerged from Slovania by a man named Zdenko Domancic. Domancic uses a series of techniques, movements and specific protocol that facilitate healing by re-balancing the body.
There have been many incarnations developed since the Domancic Method was introduced. Each one offering variations on techniques, methodologies and protocols, yet they all have a common thread that binds them together, the use of the source of healing; Bio-Energy or life force energy.
Plexus Bio-energy is one example of a variation from the original Bio-energy healing that was introduced in Ireland. In 1992, Michael D’Alton received a Bio-Energy treatment that cured him of his asthma and eczema. This changed his life and he began his training with Plexis Bio-energy in 1993. Two years later, Michael developed a Bio-Energy healing diploma course and in 2005 he moved to Canada where he established Michael DAlton’s School of Bio-Energy Healing.
